Labu Sayong with Pewter Design

LABU SAYONG

The state of Perak is famous for its "Labu Sayong". "Sayong" is an area or rather a village in Kuala Kangsar hence, the place where "Labu Sayong" is produced.Pottery here is shaped like a bottle gourd and is black in color due to open kiln method of burning. "Labu Sayong" has three parts, the top is small while the middle section is bulged but smaller than the bottom section. It is mainly used to store drinking water as it acts as a refrigerator.
