SYARIKAT PEMASARAN KARYANEKA SDN BHD, popularly and commercially known as “KARYANEKA”, was established in 1982 as a wholly owned corporate entity of the Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation, which is a statutory agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Malaysia.
The chosen timber must be air-dried prior to carving. Male artisans work in small workshops, often situated within the compound of their house. They use various blades, adze, chisel mallets, and other woodworking tools to saw, drill, chisel, and carve. The finished work was then polished by using coarse mempelas leaves.
